Imagine your favorite meal. Now imagine being unable to eat it. Dysphagia is difficulty swallowing food or liquid. It can occur because of a stroke, head and neck cancer, injury or other neurological illnesses. Before treatment begins, an instrumental assessment of swallowing such as a modified barium swallow study (MBSS) or fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) is usually completed to determine the most appropriate treatment interventions.
In addition to traditional swallowing therapy, we are trained to perform myofascial release/manual therapy, Vital Stim therapy and surface electromyography (sEMG) to improve swallow function. Click our number above if you or someone you know would benefit from this service!
